UAPA Presidents Message

We would like to thank all of those that have been a part of getting our association formed and off of the ground. Who would have thought that it would have taken almost 2 years. On March 15, 2011 the Utah Asphalt Pavement Association (UAPA) was formed with 10 charter members. It was exciting to see and feel the energy and passion that day. We have had many other members join since that day and look forward to many more joining in our efforts.
Our mission statement sums it up perfectly, UAPA is committed to being the unified voice of the asphalt industry to promote the quality and use of asphalt pavements in Utah.
UAPA has identified and set many goals that we are eager to start working on to make our industry more competitive, efficient, environmentally friendly and continue to provide the premier materials for road construction and maintenance.  We have already accomplished some important tasks as we put together a task group made up of members to work with UDOT as they made some major changes in their asphalt related specifications.  We have also had great support from national organizations such as the National Asphalt Pavement Association and the Asphalt Institute as well as many State Pavement Associations to organize UAPA and be on the correct path forward.
We have a lot of work ahead of us. We are currently working to bring on an Executive Director , a person that will be able to lead and organize our efforts. Much time has been spent on this selection process as we make this very important decision.  As a group we are also working to start providing education to our members. UAPA will participate in the UDOT engineering Conference in November presenting new information on a very important topic to our industry, that of Life Cycle Cost Analysis. We need suggestions and feedback on topics that need attention from UAPA, please feel free to send them to us.
On a personal note, I would like to thank all of those who have spent countless hours getting UAPA to where it is today. I have a great passion for this industry and am grateful for the opportunity to work in this business and rub shoulders with many of you. Please contact me personally if there is anything I can help with. I am confident we have started something great and look forward to being involved  for many years to come.
Best Regards,
Craig Fabrizio
